Day 27 - Something I Want to Buy

I am pretty sure I am a day behind but oh well. 29 out of 30 on time will be good odds.
There are SO many things that I want to buy since I bought a house. It seems like there is always something. This is pretty high on my list though. I REALLY want a big shag rug in some shade of brown for my TV room. The room is so big and not carpet. Someday when my house hasn't sucked all my money for necessary things and there is extra for things like a rug, this will be one of my first purchases.

Day 25 - My Typical Daily Routine

I am going to do a work day since those are 5 out of the 7 days of my week.

6:15 - Hit snooze on my alarm clock a couple times (or more) and then drag myself out of bed and into the shower. Warning: I am NOT a morning person and DON'T even try to talk to me before I shower. Just trust me on this one. Morning routine: shower, hair, makeup, breakfast, etc.

7:45 - Drive from the ghetto where my house is located to my other home, I mean work.

8:15 - 4:00 - Teach, sing, teach, dance, teach, keep kids from doing WWF at school, teach, read, teach, listen to kids rap my name, teach, do a dog and pony show, teach . . . you get the idea.

4:00 - Make the trek back to the ghetto. Sometimes run errands; library, grocery store, gas station where I cry as I watch my money being sucked away.

5:30 - Dinner - A few nights a week I cook, the other nights are usually leftovers.

If there is nothing else going on for me that night I watch some awesome TV (I would need a whole different post for that schedule), read (every night), clean a little, etc.

9:30 - Bedtime routine: pajamas, brush teeth, wash face, scriptures, pray, etc. and nighty night!

Day 24 - Something I Always Have With Me

This is what my cell phone looks like, but it's not mine since I am too lazy to get off the couch and take a picture. Thank you Google images! I always have it with me cause you never know. Don't worry, I most DEFINITELY turn it off during church and at the temple.

Day 21 - A Favorite Recipe

Try it. You won't be sorry.

Baked Potato Soup

2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup butter
7 cups milk
4 - 6 large baked potatoes
4 green onions
1 package bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 cups cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Melt butter. Stir in flour. Add milk. Stir constantly until thickened. Add potatoes and onions. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Stir in cheese.

I tend to have a hard time answering the talent question. I don't so much have the obvious talents; music (no ability at all), sewing (don't even ask), crafts (not so much), etc. I would probably have to say cooking/baking for this one. I'm not the best and am definitely a recipe follower but cooking/baking is something that I feel pretty good at and confident doing.

Day 18 - A Favorite Animal

It would have to be my brother's/family dog Maggie. I like dogs and hope to someday have one but I am not ready to make the commitment right now (enjoy my freedom), don't have the fence for one and haven't come to terms with being able to have one in the house (by that I mean the mess and hair that comes with it). So for now visiting this one will do!

Day 17 - A Photo of my Family

It's been awhile since we've had family pics taken so I think this is the last one I have of all of us (minus brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law). It was at my brothers' graduation the summer of 2009.

Day 16 - A Song That Makes Me Cry (or nearly)

Couldn't find a video of it that I really loved so this one will have to do. Holly Dunn's "Daddy's Hands" gets me every time. PERFECTLY describes my dad. Love him!

Day 15 - A Favorite Outfit

So this is actually yesterday's post but better late then never huh? Sorry it's a blurry mirror pic and you can't see my face (it's probably better that way) but the picture I had taken earlier of me was not flattering and I am doing you all a favor by not posting it. I don't know if I necessarily have a favorite outfit (unless you count yoga pants) but I do love this one cause it's comfy but still dressy enough for work and other things.

In the single Mormon world that I live in you hear the term "Single Awareness Day" A LOT around February 14th. I. HATE. IT. I don't believe in it and it BUGS me. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a holiday that celebrates love. So here's hoping everyone has a great VALENTINE'S DAY shared with the people you love! Here are a few that I do!

Day 14 - A Favorite Non-Fictional Book

I am not so proud to admit that Non-Fiction (informational text for you teacher friends) isn't always my favorite to read. I try to read one often and usually read a little each night along with whatever else I'm reading but I don't usually get sucked into them like I do fiction. The one I chose for this post is one that I had to read in my children's literature class in college and actually really did enjoy (you old roomies may recognize it and remember all those nights of reading).

Day 13 - A Favorite Fictional Book

I read ALL the time but I am not one to read novels more than once (unless I am reading them to first graders year after year). So, my favorite fictional (which apparently in education land is now referred to as narrative text) is a picture book. Love this author and adore this book. Pretty much makes me almost cry when I read it to my first graders every year. It's definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a teacher.

The contents of my purse usually stay the same, give or take a couple things: gloves, ibuprofen, sunglasses, wallet, checkbook, keys, gum, tissues, camera, calendar, ipod, work id badge, band aids, cell phone, car phone charger, pens, pencil, highlighter and cosmetic bag (lotion, hand sanitizer, chapstick, lip gloss, mirror). I know you were all dying to know what I carry with me everywhere. :)

Day 11 - A Recent Photo of ME!

Day 9 - My Pet Peeves

Oh boy! Here is a post where I get to rant freely and not feel so bad. Bring it on!

*Slow walkers who take up the whole walkway. I have always been a fast walker and this drives me CRAZY!

*People giving out my phone number without asking me first. DON'T DO IT!!!

*When there are tons of seats in a movie theater and someone chooses to sit right by me or right in front of me. Seriously?

* People who don't pick up after themselves. I'm NOT your mom, clean up after yourself!

* People who take advantage of other people's kindness. Happens to me and I see it happen to people I know. Don't do it. It's IRRITATING! Get your own act together.

Day 8 - My Favorite Food

Do I really have to choose? Every year we get to pick our birthday dinner for my mom to make. For the longest time I always chose spaghetti, which I still do love, but it has been replaced. For several years now my choice has been homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and biscuits. So that's what I choose today for my favorite food.

Day 5 - My Favorite Quote

Maybe the title should say favorite quotes, since I can't seem to do one of anything. The first one I came across while I was doing my masters degree and quickly became a favorite. The second one was shown to me by a friend (shout out to you Ericka:) and pretty much sums up how I feel about teaching. I feel very blessed that I always knew what I wanted and was supposed to do.
